Picklex®20 manufactured by International Chemical Products. Inc. of Huntsville, Alabama is a 1-step metal surface preparation and pre-treatment product. Non-hazardous, environmentally friendly, water based and Ready to Use product.
Picklex® 20 can be used on any metal, ferrous and non-ferrous, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized steel etc. as a surface preparation/pre-treatment chemical before welding, priming, painting, powder coating etc.
Picklex® 20 performs multiple jobs (8 chemical's job) in one-step simple application as shown below.
a) Metal surface cleaner: Cleans light mill oil, cutting fluid, dust
b) Surface rust/flash rust remover (removes flash rust in less than 15 seconds by spraying/brushing and also removes heavy rust by dipping without etching the metal surface)
c) Rust inhibitor: Provides conversion/protective coating for very long-term indoor rust prevention (in terms of years)
d) Rust converter: Converts 100% rust and scale on the metal surface to a conductive conversion coating, ready for welding & finishing
e) Sealer: It seals from moisture/humidity and stops further oxidation
f) Pre-treatment chemical: Provides complete surface preparation/pre-treatment for subsequent operations, such as welding, priming, liquid painting, powder coating, e-coating etc. Provides excellent bonding and corrosion resistance (much longer paint life)
g) De-Scaler: De-scales, coats & seals hot rolled steel with mill scale or heat treat scale in one-step.
h) Welding/Anti-spatter compound: No weld spatter forms. Increases weld strength considerably. Spraying on the weld provides a very long term rust protection for the weld
i) Galvanized steel, Aluminum preparation: The only product which prepares galvanized steel & aluminum surface by one-step spraying / brushing before painting (eliminates blasting)
j) Stainless Steel preparation: The only product which prepares stainless steel surface for clear coating (eliminates Nitric acid passivation or blasting)
Picklex® 20 is used by manual process at room temperature with no rinsing. It has a very high coverage, making it very cost effective. Saves labor, cost & time considerably.
NOTE: Picklex®20 was shown and used on the TV show called “Trucks” on Spike TV channel hosted by Kevin Tetz (episode - One-half a C-10) during restoration of a truck to prevent rusting for a long period of time before they are ready to prime and paint.
